HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM In a perfect world we would shoot all the inferior bucks and does and start over with quality bred does and a couple of breeder bucks. This would assure you that you have good genetic animals that are not mixing with inferior bloodlines.
Introducing quality bred does into the pasture will no doubt help as long as they are tagged but they will still breed with inferior genetics. Releasing quality breeder bucks will also help but you still have the problem of your good bucks breeding with inferior does. The BEST scenario would be putting 10 to 20 high genetic does in a pen with a top breeder buck and releasing the tagged offspring each year. In this case you can assure yourself that a trophy buck breeds all the top quality does, and your fawn survival rate will be a lot higher. After a few years of shooting the older untagged native deer you could replace all does with top quality genetics.
At Texas Legacy Whitetails all our deer are DNA Certified and documented. We guarantee you get what you purchase and we stand behind our product.
Texas Legacy Whitetails breeds deer for its own trophy ranch program. We sell just enough deer to pay for our expenses. The deer you purchase are the same deer we are releasing on our ranch.
Each year with our working facility, we participate in a AI program for new genetics and can breed to any deer if semen is available for purchase.
Texas Legacy Whitetails has two working deer facilities, one located in Crystal City, Texas on the ranch and the other in Richmond, Texas.
Our goal is to breed for lots of mass with multiple points to help increase quality animals for all Texas hunters. We have genetics from many of the great Legacy bloodlines and have a lot of fun crossing the different lines to see what we get.
